Legal & Ethical Considerations Exercise

Legal & Ethical Considerations

What is copyright law? - Copyright law is where you aren't allowed to do certain things like upload songs to Youtube as a company owns the music and have the right for them to only make money off of it. Same sort of thing for videogames, you aren't allowed to use things that other people have made in your game unless you have been given permission, otherwise you will be sued for using copyrighted content to make money.

What is Libel? - To write or broadcast through radio, television or film, lies about people which could possibly harm them, their reputation or their careers. This can be taken to court and the alleged accusation can be proved as a lie. The victim can even sue for damage to reputation. If the victim is proven guilty and what they are accused of isn't a lie then they can be disciplined.

How are female characters represented in Games? - They are represented as strong women but they usually do not wear many clothes as this appeals more to the male audience. If they are set as main characters they are smart however if they are side characters they aren't very bright. A lot of the time the female characters can also be with the main bad guy on the other side as a servant or partner.
