P1 Exercise Unit73

Music/FX Sources

There are many music sources, here are some:

Spotify
iTunes
Soundcloud
Youtube
BBC
Speakers
Headphones
Phone
The purpose of game music is to add to the atmosphere, for example, Half-Life uses a lot of ambient background music for a more depressing and disastrous atmosphere however not much vocal audio apart from certain enemies and colleagues you find throughout the game. Borderlands 2 also uses a lot of ambient background sound but that soon changes when there is action going on, there is also a lot of speaking, mainly through enemies and friendly npc characters. Silent Hill 2 has most of the same music which is all very scary and gloomy which really puts you on edge and increases the fear factor a lot, almost all of the vocal audio is done in cutscenes when talking to different strange characters which really adds to the horror as most of the time you are on your own.
The legal considerations you need when obtaining or using music/sound are that you need to contact the owner of that sound or music before you can use it, if you make your own sounds and music then there shouldn't be any problems with it. There are sites in which you can download free sounds which are not copyrighted in any way therefore you or your company will not get in any legal problems.
