My Maya 3D Model Evaluation
I created my 3D model in Maya and it is meant to be the main character of the game I am meant to create. From creating this model I have learned the basics of Maya and how to create a 3D model in the program. I have also learned that it is important to sculpt your model together as if it was clay to make it more realistic looking rather than a few blocks, along with that I have learned that texturing is very important as you need to get it exactly right and then cover the model correctly with it.
The things I dislike about my model are that I was not able to make it look realistic enough as I'm not very good at modelling. I also couldn't get textures to work on it properly so I had to just use the 3D paint tool on it along with important plain coloured textures so it wouldn't just be a grey model. I believe I also may have made the mouth and eyes a bit too big and comical however I was unable to figure out how to atleast give my model lips to cover the teeth. Also my model somehow messed up so whenever I try to use the paint tool on certain parts of it's body, random bits of colour streaks appear on other parts of the model.
The things I could have improved are that I could have put real hands on the model to make it more human-like, I could have made the facial features smaller along with the head to make the model look more human, I could have figured out how to mold the body together with the rest of the body so it doesn't just look like a perfectly round torso. I should have made the shoes more round rather than blocky to again give the model more realism. Figuring how to get the textures working properly could have also been an improvement as I would not have such plain textures on my model.
